The company had reduced the amount of packaging in its products shipped to consumers, and the company had quantified this: "Since 2015, we’ve reduced per-shipment packaging weight by 41% on average, avoiding more than 2 million tons of packaging". Iit discussed how it was shipping packages in its suppliers original packaging as opposed to creating new Amazon-branded packaging, working with suppliers to ensure the packaging was suitable so that Amazon did not need to provide additional protective packaging, but had not quantified this.
