We score companies out of 100.
The higher the score, the more ethical the company.
The scores represent a company's performance across key ethical areas, helping you understand how it aligns with your values.
Scores are based on detailed research into areas such as environmental impact, workers' rights, and animal welfare.
If you are comparing scores of companies or products, we recommend doing this within our shopping guides, which is how we rate them. There can be a difference between a company score on this company profile page, and a product score in a shopping guide. This is because the brand (product) has been rated under specific categories for the market it is in.
It may also be affected by shared ownership by multiple holding companies.
This means for companies who have brands in lots of different markets e.g. food, clothing and home appliances, their different brands may have different scores from the overall company score. And brands owned 50/50 by two different companies may also have a different score than either of the owning companies.
We update scores based on our production cycle, usually every 2 to 3 years.
